Our site in Macedonia has begun a number of initiatives to help develop the employability of communities in the local area.

In January 2013 our site held a workshop for the unemployed on preparing professional resumes and preparing job applications. Around 50 people attended the event showing a lot of interest in the process and taking the opportunity to get more information about the site. The Johnson Matthey site is the largest employer in the area.

Our site in Skopje also began a summer internship programme in 2013 for students from universities in Macedonia.

The aim is to develop their professional skills and gain useful experience for their careers. Students are placed in the Maintenance, Automation, Production, and Continuous Improvement departments depending on their areas of study and interest.

The programme is very successful and is now in its fifth year. Many students return to work for us.
