For Emission Control Technologies and all of Johnson Matthey, sustainability is about how we can best run our business in the long term, enhancing our " Triple Bottom Line" by focusing on our people and communities, our environmental impacts and our profitability.
Our Sustainability 2017 Vision
Our Sustainability 2017 Vision is helping us achieve this. This vision was defined following an assessment of future commercial opportunities open to the business, major impacts and risks, and was launched in December 2007.
Key business drivers
Our two key business drivers are to be more efficient with the resources we use, and to design new products and services to help our customers be more sustainable and competitive. Guided by these and our five key elements of sustainability, we developed six challenging targets, which we aim to meet by 2017, the 200th anniversary of Johnson Matthey.
Our emission control products
Our emission control products help contribute to sustainable development by improving air quality around the world. Our own environmental policies and procedures are designed to meet or exceed relevant environmental legislation wherever our sites are located.
We seek to minimise waste and reduce emissions from our own operations by efficient use of resources and using best available techniques where possible.
Sustainability is about more than just these targets though, and we play an active part in the communities where we operate, working on educational and charitable projects to improve the lives and opportunities of others.
