2015 – a fantastic year of awards for Johnson Matthey Shanghai

The Johnson Matthey Shanghai team receives the award from Daimler

Daimler Award

In March the Shanghai autocatalyst manufacturing site achieved an 'A' supplier rating from Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) after a VDA 6.3 Process Audit. The auditors from Daimler were particularly impressed with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), the slurry and washcoat area and the layout of the shop floor.

Build Your Dreams Award

The site also received a 'Best Supplier' award from Build Your Dreams (BYD). BYD is one of the biggest independent Chinese manufacturers of electric cars. This is the second time the site has received the award for exceptional quality and performance.

Weichai Power

Johnson Matthey received an 'Excellent Supplier Award 2015' from Weichai Power, one of China's leading engine manufacturers for the commercial vehicle, off-highway, marine and power generation markets.

Other awards received last year include:

• a 'Best Supplier' award from Changchun Faurecia Co Ltd

• an A-Class Supplier Certificate from FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Company Ltd

• a Best Supplying Assurance award from the Dongfeng Honda Engine Company Ltd

• an 'A' level supplier award from the Sichuan Yema Automobile Company Ltd.

The team in Shanghai demonstrated real hard work and dedication in achieving these awards. The team has shown it has taken on board the company's third-century 3C strategy which is to work together (collaborate), focus on customers' needs and create value with sustainable technologies.

Johnson Matthey opened its first autocatalyst facilities in Shanghai in 2001. As business grew, in line with China's automotive industry, a second site was purchased nearby for a technical centre to research, develop and test emissions control products. Extra autocatalyst production facilities were also built. Since then the autocatalyst manufacturing facilities in Shanghai have gone from strength to strength culminating in production of the site's 50 millionth autocatalyst in spring 2016.
