Johnson Matthey’s Emission Control Technologies business is the leading supplier of catalytic emission control systems for gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Our European Autocatalyst Technology Centre in Royston near Cambridge, where the world’s first autocatalyst was produced in 1974, is dedicated to the creation of advanced catalytic solutions to meet ever tightening emissions control legislation.
Teams of highly-skilled Chemists and Chemical Engineers develop and test new catalytic products for customers around the world, invent and refine state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and transfer technologies into full-scale production. Analytical Chemists characterise catalysts and raw materials and develop and validate robust analytical QC methods. Automotive and Mechanical Engineers run advanced facilities to test catalysts on vehicles, engines and synthetic gas rigs.
