| CRT® System |
|
| Level 3 - 85 percent or greater
reduction in particulate matter: |
| The ARB has modified the conditions of the verification of the Johnson Matthey CRT® Particulate Filter system to allow for a lower termperature requirement. The Johnson Matthey CRT® is now verified for most 1994-2006 model year diesel engines in on-road applications operating on ultra low sulfur diesel fuel or B20 fuel. B20 is defined, based on volume, as a mixture of 20 percent neat biodiesel (B100) that complies with ASTM D6751 and 80 percent diesel (e.g. not alternative diesel fuels) with a sulfur content of no more than 15 parts per million by weight. All of these engines are four-stroke, turbocharged, and were certified in California to the 0.1 gram per brake horsepower-hour (g/bhp-hr) particulate matter (PM) emission standard when new. The CRT® is also verified for a select few engines that employ exhaust gas recirculation through model year 2006. The CRT® Particulate Filter system employs a passively regenerated catalyzed diesel particulate filter to achieve an 85 percent reduction in particulate matter emissions, qualifying it for a Level 3 verification. Specific engine families and conditions for which the CRT® Particulate Filter system has been approved and may be found in the Executive Order and attachment which are posted below. |

CCRT® System
Level 3 - 85 percent or greater reduction in particulate matter:
| The ARB has verified the Johnson Matthey CCRT® Particulate Filter system for 1994 to 2004 model year on-road diesel engines, which are used in on-road applications operating on ultra low sulfur diesel fuel. All of these engines are four-stroke, turbocharged, and were certified in California to the 0.1 gram per brake horsepower-hour (g/bhp-hr) particulate matter (PM) emission standard when new. A select few of these engines also employ the use of exhaust gas recirculation. The CCRT® Particulate Filter system achieves an 85 percent or greater (Level 3) reduction in particulate matter emissions. The CCRT® Particulate Filter can achieve this reduction at a temperature of 210ºC for at least 40 percent of the duty cycle. Specific conditions for which the CCRT® Particulate Filter system has been approved may be found in the Executive Order and attachment which are posted below. |

EGRT® System
Level 3 - 85 percent or greater reduction in particulate matter, 40 percent or greater reduction in NOx:
| The ARB has verified the Johnson Matthey Exhaust Gas Recirculation Technology® (EGRT®) for some Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and International engines used in on-road applications. The EGRT® uses an exhaust gas recirculation system and a diesel particulate filter to achieve an 85 percent reduction in particulate matter emissions and 40 percent reduction in oxides of nitrogen. Specific conditions for which the EGRT® have been approved may be found in the Executive Order and Attachment which are posted below. |

PCRT® Particulate Filter
Level 2 - 50 percent reduction in particulate matter
| The ARB has verified the Johnson Matthey PCRT® Particulate Filter system for 1991 to 1993 model year diesel engines used in on-road applications operating on diesel fuel with a sulfur content of no more than 15 parts per million by weight. The PCRT® Particulate Filter system achieves a 50 percent reduction in particulate matter emissions qualifying it for a Level 2 verification. Specific engine families and conditions for which the PCRT® Particulate Filter system has been approved may be found in the Executive Order and Attachment below. |
