DPF-CRT®
Particulate matter is predominantly carbon and carbon-based.
Carbon reacts with nitrogen dioxide (NO2)
below 300°C. Johnson Matthey’s patented
CRT®
technology uses a catalyst in front of the filter
to make some of the NO in the exhaust gasses into
NO2. The NO2 then flows through
the filter where it reacts with the carbon particles
to produce CO2 and NO.
| Advantages: |
passive device which requires no maintenance
between normal engine services, |
| |
removes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide from
the exhaust stream. |
| Conditions: |
>250°C catalyst temperature for at least
50% operating time, |
| |
<50ppm sulphur in fuel, |
| |
>25:1 NOx:DPM engine out ratio. |
